JOAKIMINTERFEST 2008
3rd International Small Scene Theatre Festival
CAR OF THESPIS
In his own time, Albert Camus wrote that theatre was one of those places in the world where it was possible to be happy. In these days when Joakiminterfest, one of the four of the city's theatrical events, should take place, it seems that there are enough reasons for happiness in Kragujevac, a Theatropolis, and a Serbian Edinburgh.
The artistry of the performers, the varieties of the poetries, the characteristics of the schools of drama and of sensibilities with rich creative abilities are participating in the game of self recognition and theatre recognition.

All the decisions of the jury are unanimous.
The jury decided on giving the acknowledgements to young actors for graet spectrum of artistic abilities, presented by three following realizations:
Lidija Indzova for the role of Hermia in play aMidsummer Nights Dreamof Villiam Shakespeare, directed by Nikolaj Poljakov in the production of The Dramaticno-kuklen teatr, Vraca, Bulgaria.
Maciej Kowalczyk for the role in play The Hunger of Knut Hamson, directed by Jozef Markocki in production of The Teatr Formy, Wroclaw, Poland.
Ivana Paviĉevic for the role of Daughter in play Umetnost i dokolica of Stive Tesic, directed by Nemanja Rankoviĉ in the production of The National Theatre from Uzice.
1. Award for Visual Aspects of the Play goes to play Intimni avtoportret Fride Kahlo of Slavenka Milovanovic Pregelj and Ivane Vujic, directed by The Slovensko narodno gledalisce from Maribor, Slovenia.
Commentary:
The award is being assigned for the remarkable scene images based on complicating and rich play of various visual elements (costume, light, set design, video projection), being in the service of dramatic event, all the time corresponding with the painting of Frida Kahlo.
2.
Two Best Actor Awards go to:
1. Dusanka Stojanovic for the role of Esma Haliloviĉ in play Ceif of Mirza Fehimovic, direction and adaptation Egon Savin, production The Beogradski dramski teatar from Belgrade, Serbia.
2. Ljubomir Bandovic for the role of Salko Halilovic in play Ceif of Mirza Fehimoviĉ, direction and adaptation Egon Savin, production The Beogradski dramski teatar from Belgrade, Serbia.
Commentary:
Dusanka Stojanovic showed remarkable acting transformation developing even the slightest detail of acting expression, by which she bult her character, as well as dramatic situation, in a subtle manner. In her outer rigidness, she was full of love and warmth all the time.
Ljubomir Bandovic, with the splended artistry of his gift for acting, surprizing us, in each moment, with the speed of change of his state and the state of his character and dramatic situation, he actualized his character of Salko, who, despite of his handicap, in the name of all the characters from the play, by the liveliness of his spirit, preserved the strength of hope that, despite such an unsolvable Balkanian faith, everything would be fine after all.
3. Best director award goes to Egon Savin for play Ceif of Mirza Fehimovic in the production of The Belgrade drama Theatre from Belgrade, Serbia.
Commentary:
Director, Ergon Savin, in his prudent and unobtrusive directing procedure, animated the relations between real and surreal, in this universal human drama, regarding director's denoting as well as his work with the actors, with unbelievable easiness exchanging comical and tragical through the play of acting, he told us a story on suffering and love, or to be more exact, on love despite suffering.
4. Best play award goes to play Ceif of Mirza Fehimovic in the production ofThe Belgrade drama Theatre from Belgrade, Serbia.
Commentary:
Play Ceif is a tragic-comic story on the return of humanity, a reminder of what we feel and what we are in the time that has made each sense in us numb. It offers us a mirror in which we not only recognize ourselves, but we are invited to ask questions to the very same mirror. It leaves us naked, but through that nakedness, it purifies us through truthful testimony of what is the most human in us.
5. Special award goes to Ivana Vujic for play An intimate self portrait of Frida Kahlo of Slavenka Milovanoviĉ Pregelj and Ivane Vujic, directed by The Slovenian National Theatre from Maribor, Slovenia.
Commentary:
Director, Ivana Vujic, led, harmoniously and imaginatively, a number of simultaneous flows of directing language, preserving the readability, transparency and coherency of the style at each stratum of the play, and she reminded us, touchingly, of the colours from Frida's pallet we have forgotten.
6. Audience Award
Two equal awards, average grade 9,63
The Teatr Formy, Wroclaw (Poland), play The Hunger of Knut Hamson, directed by Jozef Markocki
The Slovenian National Theatre from Maribor (Slovenia), play An intimate self portrait of Frida Kahlo of Slavenka Milovanoviĉ Pregelj and Ivane Vujic, directed by Ivana Vujic.

Awards
1. Award for the best play
2. Award for the best director
3. Two awards for the best actors
4. Award for the visual effects
5. Special Award
6. Audience Award
The Jury decisions were unanimous.
1. Best Play
Rationale:
The Governments Inspector, written by N. V. Gogol, directed by Horatiu Malaele and performed by Comedy Theatre from Bucharest is a play that displays precise stylization, visual and semantic precision, clear stylistic concept and apparent team effort of the ensemble; this is a play that attracts the attention and draws the audience into its inner structure.
2. Best Director
Rationale:
The director awarded by the Jury has modernized this classical text by introducing the grotesque and by minimizing the scenery, all the while managing to harmoniously unite the stage elements. The winner of the award is Mr. Horatiu Malaele, the director of The Governments Inspector, written by N. V. Gogol and performed by Comedy Theatre from Bucharest.
3. Two Actors Awards
Due to the equal number of votes given by the expert jury and in agreement with JoakimInterFest 2007 Board of Directors, the Jury has decided to give out four equal awards.
Among the large number of actors achievements seen during the last week, these four actors were distinguished by their ability to identify themselves with the characters they played. Their ability was only slightly greater than that of other actors, thus, this selection does not diminish the greatness of performances by other artists.
Awardees are (in the order of appearance in front of the audience):
- Miss Sladjana Zrnic for the role of Nadezda in the play Family Stories directed by Jovica Pavic and performed by the ensemble of National Theatre of The Republic of Srpska, Banja Luka
- Mr. George Mihaita for the role of Mayor in the already awarded play The Governments Inspector, written by N. V. Gogol, directed by Horatiu Malaele and performed by Comedy Theatre from Bucharest
- Mrs. Danica Ristovski for the role of Antigone in the play Antigone, written by Bertolt Brecht, directed by Ivana Vujic and performed by the ensemble of Concrete Halle Theatre
- Mr. Ivan Tomasevic for the role of Don Juan in the play Don Juan comes back from the war, written by Odon von Horvath, directed by Vladimir Lazic and performed by Dobrica Milutinovic Theatre from Sremska Mitrovica
4. Award for Visual Aspect of the Play
The award goes to the play whose visual aspect has become yet another dramatic element in an original, unconventional manner. The Jury took notice of the sophisticated elements of the scenery, lighting, puppets and their animators that successfully became a part of an integral dramatic play. These components of stage expression, in the opinion of the Jury, are best pronounced in the play Ivanov, written by A. P. Chekhov and performed by Slovakian Chamber Theatre from Martin.
5. Special Award
By awarding this play with Special Award, the Jury wants primarily to point out the costumes and scenery which are functional, imaginative, balanced in color and which give the notion of rounded dramatic action to this fragmentary dramaturgy. The play that has all these elements is Don Juan comes back from the war, written by Odon von Horvath, directed by Vlada Lazic and performed by Dobrica Milutinovic Theatre from Sremska Mitrovica.
6. Audience Award
The best play of JoakimInterFest 2007, in the opinion of the audience, is The Governments Inspector, written by N. V. Gogol, directed by Horatiu Malaele and performed by Comedy Theatre from Bucharest.
